Protein Power Smoothie For Athletes (Gluten Free & Vegan)

12 ounces coconut water

6 dates, pitted

1-2 tablespoons nut or seed butter of choice (I use almond butter)

1/3 cup hemp hearts (aka hemp seeds)

1 frozen banana

1/2 cup frozen organic blueberries

2 teaspoons bee pollen (optional, not a vegan ingredient)

1 teaspoon maca powder

2 teaspoons maqui powder

1 tablespoon acai powder

1/2 teaspoon blue-green algae

1 teaspoon wakame flakes

 

  1. Place coconut water and dates in blender and blend until thoroughly combined, this could take several minutes depending on the power of your blender.
  2. Add remaining ingredients and blend well.

NOTE:

  • Bee pollen granules are available at Central Market in the refrigerator case in the vitamin area. Bee pollen is not vegan.
